2d - found item typeface

Return to Submission Page
For this project I had to make letters out of found object, I used an old rusted pop cap gun and pocket knife, a sushi rolling mat, makeup brushes, crystals, and lego minifigures.

I loved the old rusted letters, and called that typeface Antique Gunmetal, the crystals were far too simple and easy to arrange, so were the makeup brushes. The bamboo rolling mat was a really fun one to try but didnt look so good in black and white. The legos were my other favorite, they just looked so fun like they were cheerleading. I mocked up the basic idea for a possible poster for my lego letters, but only having five minifigures really limited the colour and design options and it looked a little silly

I made two posters for my Antique Gunmetal typeface, I love the combination of clean modern black and white styling with the old rusted items making the font, but I also really like the styling of the wanted old western style poster.

I played around with photocopying these posters while moving them around, it gave some interesting but confusing warped results, i also cut them up and played around with collaging them, and unfortunately lost the folder with those scrap practice pieces in. It is definitely a technique I would try again if I wanted to create a dream/nightmare kind of feeling in a piece of work.
